Ted Zourntos
“Outward is Inward”

Exhibition: June 12 to July 12, 2008
Reception: Wednesday, June 11th, 7 to 9 pm

Ted Zourntos’ paintings are at once seductively familiar and aggressively unsettling.
One can almost identify a waterfall or horizon but that image has been abstracted
and annihilated with what appears to be reckless abandon but in fact is exquisitely
crafted oil, enamel, acrylic and silicone. They are what the artist refers to as
“intuitive landscapes – not of a specific place conjured through memory or observation,
but rather a psychological ecosystem born of imagination and informed directly by the
current condition of environmental uncertainty.”

Ted Zourntos relocated to New York from Toronto in 2007. This is his first solo exhibition
in New York.

Showing in the project room throughout the exhbition: Jason Gringler.
